Today we’re excited to introduce to you Rachael Salomon, owner of Sea Love in Freeport —wife, mom, entrepreneur, boutique curator, and memory maker. Her beautiful smile and welcoming vibe will make you feel right at home. Tell us a bit about yourself!
My name is Rachael and I own the Sea Love in Freeport, Maine! I am a mommy to three little Mainers who keep my husband, Ryan and I very busy. I grew up in Wisconsin but have been in Maine for 10 years and can’t imagine living anywhere else. I believe a good headband can make any outfit better and a bag of Cape Cod Potato Chips definitely counts as a meal.
How did you connect with Sea Love? What made you fall in love with Sea Love?
I first found Sea Love in 2020 on Instagram and loved the concept! I’m always looking for new experiences and as a lover of all things coastal and candles, I was immediately hooked!
Why did you decide to open your own Sea Love Candle Bar and Boutique?
The same reasons that drew me to Sea Love as a customer also sparked my interest in owning a Sea Love. I love all things retail and shopping and have always wanted to own a boutique. The DIY experience component of Sea Love was that extra something special that made me realize this was it!
What’s been your favorite part of the process so far?
My favorite part of the process so far has been getting to experience my customers making memories! We have had bridal showers, first dates, bachelorette parties, work outings and more in just the few months we have been open. Everyone has a blast!
Tell us something from your experience with opening your boutique/being an entrepreneur that you’d want others to know.
You absolutely don’t have to be an expert in everything before you start! One of my favorite things to say is “sometimes you just say yes and figure things out later”- that’s not to say being an entrepreneur is always easy or something you should take lightly, but the information is out there and there are teams of people ready to help!
Describe yourself as a candle scent/or your favorite scent combination!
My favorite scents are ones that remind me of vacations I’ve been on or places I’ve visited. My favorite scent combination (right now) is bamboo and sandalwood!
